The Best Illustrated Storybook Bibles for Kids

It is critical to begin reading the Bible to your children at a young age. It’s incredible how much information they can absorb even as infants/toddlers.
So why not instill scripture in their minds? You can read the Bible to them, which is always a good idea, especially in the morning or before bed. What better way to send them to sleep?
You can even give one of these Bibles to your children to look at and discuss as they watch you do your daily Bible reading!
There are so many wonderful advantages for your children when you teach them about God’s Word through Bible storybooks, especially with the bright and fun illustrations…
- Assists your children understand God’s truths at a tender age.
- The elegant pictures and colors are stimulating for them.
- They usually concentrate on “simplifying” Bible stories to help them understand them better.
- Repetitive reading and seeing pictures help them retain the information more!
- Prepare them for studying the Bible by themselves as they advance age-wise.
- You can ask questions to your preschoolers and have meaningful conversations about the Bible.

What to Look for in a Story Bible?

There are so many different points of view on this, and I wanted to add my two cents.
Story Bibles are fantastic in my opinion! I also believe that using multiple ones is beneficial.
Do they take the place of God’s Holy, inherent, true word? No.
Do they help children understand God’s Word, develop a love for the Bible, and initiate conversations that glorify God? They certainly can!
But, with so many story Bibles available, how do you choose the best one for your family? You want to make sure you’re looking for a particular thing.
Does this Story Bible Reflect the Scripture?
Yes, these are geared toward children, but God’s Word is true (2 Timothy 3:16). There is a distinction to be made between simplifying what the Bible says so that children can understand it and changing God’s Word.
Definitely keep an eye out for that!
Even better, story Bibles for kids with scripture references, so you can refer back to your Bible and read it with your children as well.
Including any (or all) of these children’s Bible books in your collection will undoubtedly help them, as well as you, learn more about God’s Word!!

1. Laugh and Grow Bible for Kids
We have this one, and it is by far my favorite storybook Bible for kids.
This children’s Bible is designed for children ages 4 to 8, and it’s an excellent “next step” Bible once they leave the toddler stage and enter preschool/elementary school.
It contains 52 beautifully illustrated Bible stories ranging from Genesis to Revelation. It reads very well, so whether you’re reading to your younger children or they’re reading for themselves, it makes sense.
Each story concludes with simple questions to discuss as a family that really drive home the main points of the story, as well as an easy prayer to pray together.
What’s great about it is that the 52 weeks are ideal for reiterating one story per week. I would even recommend telling the same story every night during family bible time and then moving on to the next story the following week.
